Jaquet-Droz Grande Seconde Céramique Blanche

GRANDE SECONDE CERAMIQUE BLANCHE

Hommage Genève 1784

The symbol of absolute purity, white is the new horizon from Jaquet Droz. With the "Grande Seconde Céramique Blanche", the Manufacture of La Chaux-de-Fonds demonstrates once again its capacity to excel.

Pureness and sheer simplicity: the "Grande Seconde Céramique Blanche" is the screen onto which we can project all our dreams and desires. But behind the immaculate and restrained form of this new and exceptional model within the "Hommage Genève 1784" collection lie all the "savoir-faire" and the spirit of innovation that characterise the Manufacture.

Tradition, first of all, since the "Grande Seconde Céramique Blanche" adopts one of the historic designs of Jaquet Droz, indeed the very design whose refined elegance has become an essential reference point in contemporary watchmaking. Secondly, modernity, for a watch case taken to new levels by the choice of a material that is so challenging to work with: ceramic. Unalterable, wonderfully homogeneous, it demands not only a perfect control of the extreme temperatures necessary for its modelling, but all man's ingenuity just to tame, to within a millimeter, its retraction properties. Then beauty, evidently, in the unique grain of the white "grand feu" enamelled dial. Finally, daring in the choice of a colour so intensely present and rarely used in the world of watchmaking.

This timepiece symbolises the perfect blend between the craftsman's mastery of "grand feu" enamelwork, handed down from the 17th century, and the futuristic, technical nature of ceramic, a vital element at the very heart of the 21st century.

With its self-winding double-barrel mechanical movement, the "Grande Seconde Céramique Blanche" appeals to the best in Jaquet Droz tradition: the power of its lines, its mechanical reliability, its unique design, and the contemporaneity of an integrated rubber band, also in white. This model is signed with its own individual number engraved on the back of the 44 mm case: a discreet way of attesting to the exclusivity of a timepiece which is presented in a Numerus Clausus limited edition of just 88.
