To mark its 125th anniversary, Audemars Piguet
is bringing out the first wristwatch version in the world of the
Sunrise and Sunset Equation of Time Perpetual Calendar wristwatch
created by Audemars Piguet in a pocket watch version in the Vallée
de Joux 75 years ago.
Audemars Piguet's watchmakers used as the basic
movement the world's slimmest automatic calibre (2.45 mm) with
a 21-carat gold central rotor, which was created by the Manufacture
in 1967. Despite all the complications it contains, this masterpiece
of watchmaking has an original diameter of 28 mm (12.5 lines)
and is no more than 5.35 mm thick. The central rotor ensures that
the watch is wound automatically at the slightest movement of
the wrist, guaranteeing a 40-hour power reserve. The 41 jewels
reduce friction in the gear train to a minimum, thereby allowing
better force transmission and, together with the inertia- block
balance, ensuring optimal accuracy.
The functions 1. Hours 2. Minutes 3. Days 4. Date 5. Months
6. Leap-years 7. Astronomic moon 8. Equation of time 9. Sunrise
by the hour and minute hands 10. Sunset by the hour and minute
hands
The guilloché dial is uncluttered despite the ten functions
displayed. Gold and platinum case.
