The Patek
Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon Ref. 5002 has two fascinating faces:
the dial side with mean solar time and the perpetual calendar,
and the back with the nocturnal sky, the phases and orbit of the
moon. and sidereal time.
The Sky Moon Tourbillon is not only the most complicated wristwatch
in regular production by Patek Philippe. but also the first double?faced
wristwatch in the history of the Geneva watchmaking company. It
has 12 complications: A perpetual calendar with a retrograde date
display, the displays of the day of the week, the month, the leap?year
cycle. and the moon age, a minute repeater. a tourbillon. a sky
chart, the indication of sidereal time, the moon phases, and the
orbit of the moon. The mechanical module for the astronomical
displays on the back was granted Swiss Patent CH 688 171 B5.
The Sky Moon Tourbillon comes with an official COSC chronometer
certificate and its movement, like all mechanical Patek Philippe
movements. bears the Geneva Seal. the highest official hallmark
of watchmaking excellence. The manually wound movement consists
of 686 individual parts which are finished and assembled by hand.
As a result of the time?intensive manufacturing steps involved,
only two Sky Moon Tourbillon timepieces can be completed each
year The watch is available in 18K yellow gold for CHF 950.000
or in platinum for CHF 990,000.
