Japy Type 32

As if shaped by the wind, sweeping over the wrist, a flowing mass of steel creates a cowling around a window of sapphire. A pulse quickening sense of power and pedigree are enhanced by the ergonomic feel on the wrist. A beautifully finished "fender well" and "skirt" protect the immense crown lending more evidence of durability and high performance. Two and half millimeters of sapphire over engine turned dials with polished indexes and beveled minute tracks complete a look that will turn as many heads racing to a board meeting as it will at Dakar, Indy or Le Mans. As if all of this would not be reason enough to lust for a Type 32, the most extraordinary feature is the least obvious. It is our unique double shell construction. All Japy sport watches employ a unique case system made up of two independent, interlocking cases of high grade stainless steel. The automatic movement is precisely fitted into its 300 meter water tight housing which then fits neatly into an outer "cosmetic" shell. This double wall system acts as a shock absorber protecting the movement from life's daily surprises. All components of this exclusive system were designed for interchangeability within the product range. You can have your Type 32 with a variety of modules: automatic or quartz; dress or sport; 300 meter dive, an alarm, or a chronograph. All convert easily without tools. In the Type 32, the inner case is held securely within the outer case by a Hostaform Ring, a high performance synthetic material offering controlled elasticity and self lubricating properties that assure easy transitions and trouble free performance. Another feature of Hostaform is the additional dampening it provides, greatly reducing transmission of shock and vibrations to the movement. While not as large in diameter as many contemporary sporting timepieces, the Type 32's bold , some might say massive, dimensions are a result of its true purpose, not of temporary styling trends. We are purists at Japy and we know that racing stripes and spoilers do not a race car make. There must be more go than show. The Type 32's internal fortitude is a result of industrial level technology and medical team technique. Our ETA base has been upgraded with many high performance parts including Glucydur balance, Nivarox 1 hairspring, polished steel fork and escapement wheel, Nivaflex E main spring and Incabloc bearings. Expertly assembled to meet tight tolerances and then adjusted in four positions for excellent time keeping. Just as with the original "Tank" when it first appeared, our Type 32 may not appeal to everyone, but that is the chance you take when you reach; and while some will love it, some will not. But, as with any unique design, it will not go unnoticed, nor be examined with indifference. To that end, we will have succeeded in paying homage and will hopefully create a little history of our own.
